“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord’s favour” (Luke 4:18-19)
It’s always exciting when something you’ve dreamed of for several years starts to emerge into the daylight. Some friends and I have been dreaming of hosting an event in Mumbai that would share God’s heart of compassion and learn from the transformative work happening across that city for a while now. It’s finally going to happen this November, and I am so excited that we are building an event that will inspire and equip Christians and churches to go out and share the good news in an authentic way, that shares the heart of God for His people in their lives today and for eternity.
The Holy Spirit is already doing many things in Mumbai through the churches there, and we pray that these five days are going to be ones where God meets with us in a variety of practical ways. We want to focus upon Jesus and how he engaged with the poor, needy, outcasts of his day through a new model of love and compassion, and to enable those who attend to follow the call of Isaiah to loose the chains of injustice (Isaiah 58:6).
